“Sometimes in life, when people we care about are distant from us, we experience grief and then decide not to care—or, even worse, blame them for never caring or paying attention. Most people's lives and even mine are like this. Reading this book made me realize that there is more to that kind of conduct than what we initially assume there is, and that instead of being hurt, angry, or hateful, we should be understanding and attempt to understand the reasons behind it, even if it is difficult for them to do so. We will wish we had done better in the long run, when it will be too late to tear down those walls.
Sunny Evans, a 27-year-old woman, has no idea who her biological father is. Her mother had an affair with some high school boys at a chaotic high school party, leaving her confused about the father's identity. Her mother, Elizabeth, was never there for her. Sunny was raised on a ranch in Texas by her aunt Connie. Her mother unexpectedly arrived on her 27th birthday and abruptly left, leaving a baffling letter and some money for Sunny and Connie. A month later, she learned that her mother had been slain in her hometown of Berkshire, Michigan. Sunny decided to go to her mother's birthplace to find out who the murderer was. However, this was no easy task. Unbeknownst to her, there is more than meets the eye.
Texas Toast by Mark Leggett is a compelling story that captivated me from beginning to end. I wept and laughed at the same time while reading the book. Mark has an excellent writing style. I never felt like I was reading; rather, I felt like I was directly experiencing all of the novel's various scenes. I thought about my own family life as a result of the book's significant themes. The themes of love, hate, betrayal, parental abuse, and victimization are all depicted in the book. The story takes place in a world where evil exists every day and no one has the courage to oppose it.
The aspect of the book that I appreciated the most was Sunny's tenacity in tracking down her mother's murderer. She refused and persisted even after being violently beaten by police and made to leave her mother's village. It was perilous for her to be in Berkshire, so the locals urged her to leave and forget about her mother's murderer, but she resisted and persisted. This is a tale full of twists and turns that will leave readers guessing as to what will happen next. Berkshire has many dark secrets that Sunny cannot bear, but only time will tell how she will accomplish her goal.
While reading this captivating story, the romance in the book made my heart flutter. I wanted Sunny and Jess' romance to succeed. Jess is a Texas cowboy who embodies every girl's every desire. The romance between Sunny and Jess was another aspect of the book that I liked. Readers would enjoy every aspect of the novel because of the author's creative writing style, which is captivating and entertaining.
There was nothing about the book I disliked. The book changed my perspective on some topics, prompting me to take an alternative approach. I rate this book five out of five stars. It's an interesting tale that will impact, entertain, and motivate readers. The book is exceptionally well edited. I found no errors in it. I recommend this book to individuals who are going through one family challenge or another.”
